Hi, l just acquired some E39 rims, from a 1998 BMW 540.

They are 16''

l have a 2004 BMW 325 and would like to put them on, for winter.

l know the bolt pattern is the same, 5x120

The only differences l have found are the centerbore (no clue what this is) on the cars.74.1 vs 72.6

Is this an issue with 16'' rims?

My E46 has 18'' rims during summer if that makes any difference

l would suggest that you call the dealership on this kind of question. Do you really trust just anyone to drive your car, no so why would you listen to a total stranger when it comes to something that could really mess up your car if they are wrong. Call the dealership!

Do not use them. Yes, they will fit but they're the wrong off-set.

They will probably rub against the wheel arch but even if they do not rub, they will throw your suspension geometry way out of line.

I've tried the exact same thing, and they do fit and turning is ok unless you crank the wheel all the way then there is some rubbing which sucks. l never ended up using them because they will throw off your alignment and possibly do more damage then that. Unless you have no choice l would say don't.
