There are quite a few ways, but it depends on which vehicle you have specifically. Dinan, AC Schnitzer, Jim Conforti, and the Shark Injector all sell programmers or software that removes the limiter. The Shark costs between $300-$400 and increases performance. The first two will NEVER void the warranty, remove the limiter, and increase performance. Dinan software typically compliments their own line of aftermarket parts, and is more expensive than the Shark.

The vehicle ECM (engine control module) component holds the electronic governor. Inside the module there is a specific chip that can be changed or reprogramed to achieve your objective. A number of after market chips are available that not only claim to increase horse power but remove the top speed governor. Some require the use of premium fuel for use and will also increase the rev limiter up above factory as well.
