hi last friday a normal school day l took my daughter to school and when l come to the car it was turning over but would not start. my car is a 2000 320d bmw its a e46. l have since had 2 mechanics out to diagnose a fault but am still no furthur into finding the problem. as l say the car is turning over but will not start we believe it could be the fuel pump or injectors. any help would be most grateful
there is fuel in and the battery is fully charged .

is it out of fuel? you could tryu bump starting it :)

l had a problem like this & it was suggested that it was the timing solenoid - this can be a cause if the engine is hot, which yours would be after the school run.

However mine was a problem with a cold engine, so my garage had another think & found it was because the car had over fuelled due to having been started & driven only a short distance & stopped. Typically l had the problem the next time l tried to start the car after having just moved it on the driveway.

The solenoid was that first thing my garage came up with until l told him it happened when the engine was cold & he said it generally only happened with a warm engine. Worth a try!

Yes that is the idea - not expensive.

If it is an over fuelling problem u can either keep ur hand on the ignition key - takes nerves of steel, or temporarily disconnect the fuel pump fuse.

the problem with these(mines a 320tdi) is if you flood the injectors or get any crud in them the engine has to be taken apart to drain them.big problem !

You put gasoline (petrol) in it!

the problem of your car may be the alternator. that is what happened to our previous car.

also, is your petrol old? because if you leave old petrol in a car and not check it or get rid of it then it jams up the pipes and the oil does not reach the engine. in this case, if this is the problem then it will cost about £300 ish to get the oil out.
