It looks like just the ''R'' tire could be a problem according to some of you as top speed is 80mph *(though I've seen specs that say 106mph). Looking at Costco is website, they have a tire from BF Goodrich called '' Performance Summer Tire '' that is ''R''. What would 'summer' refer to?

Summer refers to hot weather. Meaning winter for cold weather. Thats common sense. But you can always get used tires if you cant afford new ones.

Summer tires cannot be used when snow or ice is on the road. They are not designed to give you any traction in these situations.

l found Continental ContiExtreme Contact tires which are all season to be very reasonable in price and they are ZR rated. Order them through Wal Mart - they may have to special order but they should be well below $100 each.

R is for Radial.
No commercially available passenger car street tire is currently rated RR. this is for heavy duty trucks!

Falken makes an excellent economical tire for the smaller BMW. Also consider Kumho.

The lower the speed rating the better the tread life. If you do not travel at ludicrous speed the HR, TR, or VR will be fine, ride very well, and wear excellent.
