Will BMW create a hybrid??

Yes they worked with GM and Chrysler to create a 2-mode system.

So far its only used in GM is full size SUV's. Its also going to be used in Dodge Durango (2009 models) and maybe their full size cars. Not sure what BMW will use it in.

when other makes are creating hybrids,
BMW will definately creat the best among the lots,
BMW believes in slowly but surely theory.
we wait to see.

They are thiking of making a plug in battery powered car. Hybrid l do not know.

BMW has produced an X6 Hybrid which is considered they're Active Hybrid system.

Traditionally hybrids use electric motors to power the car in low range [city] traffic while the petrol engine engages in higher ranges [like the highway].

The active hybrid system uses two high output electric motors to assist a two stage transmission. So in other words, to a certain extent, the electric motors r always running & assisting the engine. Saves about 20% fuel economy & is much more efficient than any other SUV hybrid.

Though they did not flex their engineering muscles too much with it. The more promising work they've done is a regular injection hydrogen car. By liquifying the hydrogen they can use the same combustion engine & switch between petrol or hydrogen with a flip of the switch. Very impressive.

Yes, there are hybrid X3 is and X5 is in testing, and will be available to consumers. They have an advantage over the hybrid systems already available. It is stated that they will not have batteries. The Active Hybrid Concept X6 is in testing.
