l know it says 3 months on the generic BMWUSA european delivery information page, but does anyone know is 2 months is sufficient lead time?

l know for one thing, count on about 3-4 weeks to cross the Atlantic. l ordered a Mini Cooper on June 2 & it was built on the 12th. It is probably about 3/4 across the ocean now. l am able to track the ship is position. Expected date at the dealer is about 14th. That is 6 weeks with me just special ordering a car from BMW MINI. 3 months might be the maximum amount of time & they may use that to cover themselves. 2 months might be sufficient. Probably the best way to find out is to join a BMW forum or group & find someone who has done this. l hope am understanding what u r trying to ask. European delivery is when u go to Europe to buy ur car through BMW & bring it back to the States? Good luck & shame on that poster calling u all of those names!

The problem really is getting your place in line on the production run. The production allocation is pretty much already assigned and spoken for 2 months in advance. Good luck, l hear it is a really cool experience taking delivery there.

l have done the European Delivery several times, most recently at the new BMW Welt in Nov '07. To be sure the car is built EXACTLY to your specifications, you should allow 3 months. Sometimes BMW can offer something SIMILAR to what you want from their production pool with less than 3 months notice. The ED program is tremendous. The downside of it is waiting for your car to arrive in the US.
