l need help to figure out what this switch box is used for. It is from a 1980 BMW 320i E21 3series. It has Cutler-Hammer numbers listed on it are: 005621, 7010509011, and Bul No. 9537N13. Says Cut-in, Cut-out, and Colder on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

it is a thermostat type device that goes in the dash but has a sensing lead that connects to the blower housing where the evaporator is located.

Post a picture (you can use imageshack.us for hosting), that will make it easier to identify. l am not aware of any stock parts made by Cutler Hammer, so it may be aftermarket. But again - a picture will make all the difference.

that part is the thermostat that tells the A/C compressor to turn on and off as needed. Some say its also a fan resister. l never found that to be true.

sounds like an adjustable thermostatic switch for the AC.
