I am getting delivery on my 09 cooper s in november. l got the stock 16' wheels and wanted to get black aftermarket rims for it. My friend is telling me to get 17' as they are better suited for the car is weight and dimensions. l can not get 18' due to the numerous pot holes in the area roads. Should l stick with after market 16 is of should l get 17's? Please explain why. Thanks =)

The answer largey depends on what is important to you. This is what makes the Mini a great car to own. l had a couple Cooper S's. However, it was not the new model ('08+). The Cooper S is already a firm ride & handling is great as stock. Tuning it can make it better, but be careful on what u do. Because ur car will be new & with a factory warranty, do not do anything that vcan void the warranty. Your friend is right 17 is is good for this car. Anything larger will only make it ride more rough. l had 17 is on both of mine & it was already firm. l was tempted to go bigger, but the dealer told me unless it is a factory wheel, anything that happens to the car that a larger wheel could cause will void the warranty.

You will not be disappointed with 17's. It a small car & because of ir go cart like handling, u need more rubber to keep the car livable. Meaning to be able to take long rides withour feeling beaten up. l know people who has 18 is but they complain of the ride & one of them a bent rim. Please look at all the options before u do this. Go with the 17's, my friend.

17in is the deal bro. Anything more this will be a harsh ride. If you dont like the wheel gap, you can always lower a smidge.
