l lost my BMW 328i key and do not have a spare. It costs an exorbadent $231.88, plus l do not have use of my car for 2 days. Whats the best solution?

Maybe you could buy it online, ship FEDEX overnight & would most probably be cheaper than buying from a dealer & you could have it by 10:30 a.m. next morning. Make sure if you do that to get a FEDEX tracking # so you can track your package online & make sure they ASSURE you immediate shipping...just beg a little, they would probably understand what a pinch you're in.

You can only get the key from a BMW dealer. Get a number of quotes as they charge different amounts.

Joining the BMW Car Club may give you a 10% discount, ask the dealer.

This can only be ordered through a dealer and yes they are expensive. In addition, the key has to be programmed by the Svc Dept. Talk to either the Svc mgr and ask them for a break. Sounds like they're charging you a full hour to program the key.
1. it does not take that long and
2. they don;t need a master tech to program it.
